Encourage yourself!
Some days, it seems like I just can’t summon enough oomph to get out of the bed. Body aches, head is fuzzy, mouth tastes like something industrial, with nothing to look forward to but drudgery and indifference. My head drones in monotone reciting an endless ‘to-do’ list of bills to be paid, chores to be done, errands to be run. Behind the voice is the soundtrack of Beethoven’s String Quartet No 14 in C♯ minor, Op. 131. Feel free to enjoy the despondency at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yCp8j2jquQ&t=43s. I am quite sure you will agree with Wagner’s assessment that it is "the most melancholysentiment expressed in music," as we pull the covers back over our heads and wallow in our solitary misery.
OR BETTER YET:
Stand up. Pull your shoulders back. Plant your feet shoulder length apart. Ball your fists and brace them on your hips. Fix your eyes on the horizon. Slightly raise your chin. This is called the superhero pose (think Superman). Now take three deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth. Speak – better yet shout – the words that remind you who you are, “But to all who have received him--those who believe in his name--he has given the right to become God's children, (John 1:12) and why you are here, “…that I might show you My power and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth” (Exodus 9:16). Find the song Child of God by Crowder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3vIqxGIzQw and play it for your walk out song as you get moving. Get out there and be ready for God to use you to accomplish HIS purpose in your life for this day.
Jesus is with you and you have enough faith for this day, but there will be many times that you are going to have to encourage yourself. Preach the word to yourself. Take that very first step by yourself. As the very successfulNIKE slogan says, “JUST DO IT.” It applies…shine His light wherever you go today and be blessed.
